American Consul-General: Abbas expressed satisfaction from Bush speech

The American Consul-General Jacob Walles described his meeting on Tuesday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as positive, adding that Presidents Abbas expressed satisfaction from the yesterday speech of the American President George Bush.

During the meeting that took place in the central West Bank city of Ramallah Mr. Walles said that he discussed with the Palestinian President the details of Bush's speech especially the part when the later called for the regional peace conference, the American official also added that his country is in the peace process pointing out that the American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit the region soon to in an attempt to move the peace process forward.

Mr. Walles said that the economical situation was on today's meeting, ensuring that the American government will resume its full financial support to the Palestinian Authority and will implement infrastructure projects in the Palestinian areas.

About the Palestinian Presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert meeting that took palce on Monday Mr. walles said it was positive one and that the fact that the two leaders will meet each two weeks will give the peace process a chance.
