Translated & Edited by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC The Committees stated that Israeli soldiers are still closing main roads, installing additional roadblocks, attacking and bulldozing orchards, and carrying daily invasions and illegal arrests. Also, the Committees added that the settlers stepped up their attacks against the residents and their orchards, and took by fore Palestinian lands and property. The Committees also stated that the Palestinian territories are not only isolated from the rest of the World, but are also isolated from each other due to the Israeli checkpoints, and the Annexation Wall. Azmi Shiokhy, secretary-general of the Committees, stated on Wednesday that the international idleness is encouraging Israel to carry further attacks and violations, and added that these attacks will only lead to further violence and instability. Shiokhy added that real and comprehensive peace cannot be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation. He also called on the Arab countries to conduct more efforts in order to expose the Israeli violations, and to practice pressure on the international level in order to end these violations and attacks. Moreover, the Committees called on the International Red Cross and Human Rights groups to intervene for the release on injured residents who are imprisoned by Israel in Al Ramleh Israeli detention center. The Committees stated that one of the detainees, Mohammad Montaser, was shot by the soldiers who fired at him more than eight rounds of live ammunition and injured him with six bullets in his left leg and two bullets in his right leg, and is currently in an immediate need for surgery. Another detainee, identified as Mohammad Obeyyat, was shot in his back and is not receiving the needed medical treatment. The Committees stated that all injured and sick detainees should be freed in order to receive the needed medical treatment and surgeries. Shiokhy stated that Israeli is violating the international law and all internal norms, and held it responsible for any further deterioration of the health conditions of the injured and sick detainees in all Israeli detention facilities and prisons. He added that there are nearly 1000 detainees who need immediate medical attention and treatment. At least 10.000 detainees are currently imprisoned by Israel. |
