Settler fires rounds of live ammunition at Arabic houses in the Negev

Palestinian sources reported on Monday evening that an Israeli settler fired several rounds of live ammunition at several Arab houses in an “unrecognized” village in the Negev.

The settler fired at houses belonging to the Al Qee’an family in Atteer village in the Negev. While a number of houses were damaged, no injuries were reported.

The sources added that an Arab youth managed to overcome the armed settler, tackling him to the ground and apprehending his weapon. The youth later handed over the gun to the Israeli police.

The settler was taken for questioning. He claimed that he had not opened fire.

In separate incidents, several Palestinian resistance groups fired homemade shells at the Israeli Negev town of Sderot and several nearby areas. No injuries were reported.

Israeli military sources reported on Monday that Palestinian fighters fired at least seventeen homemade shells into Israeli areas in the Negev. Again, no injuries were reported.

Moreover, the army reported that the Israeli air force shelled a building in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Military sources claimed that the building was used by Hamas.

Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that an Israeli settler was killed on Sunday as Palestinian fighters fired homemade shells at Sderot. The settler was buried on Monday.

Several Palestinian resistance groups said that the firing of homemade shells comes in retaliation to the Israeli military escalation against the Palestinians, and against the increasing number of civilian casualties due to the Israeli shelling of civilian areas in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing invasions into the West Bank.
