In its statement, the Union stated that the army is carrying organized attacks against the Palestinian teachers in order to place obstacles in front of the education process in Palestine.

The Union demanded the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and several human rights groups, to intervene and stop the Israeli violations, and to practice pressure on the Israeli authorities to release all of the imprisoned teachers.

The Union also voiced similar appeals to the International Red Cross.
Shaheen, 48, was kidnapped by the army when soldiers stormed his home of Friday at night.
