Media reports and witnesses said that two people were killed and several were wounded during a shootout between Hamas supporters and personnel of the Fatah-linked preventive security forces in Rafah city, south of Gaza Strip.

Local sources said that the shootout took place while crowds of the city were taking part in the funeral procession of four Hamas members who were killed yesterday during an Israeli raid on a Hamas training outpost.

Witnesses said that children hurled stones at the nearby preventive security building when the funeral procession passed by the security oypost. The personnel in the headquarters responded by gunfire.

This development is the deadliest since a ceasefire was reached last Wedensday between Fatah and Hamas, in a bid to end four days of bloody infighting.

Meanwhile, a Hamas man was reportedly detained by the preventive security in Gaza city.
