Journalists Syndicate’s Press Release on the Killing of a Journalist in Gaza

author Sunday May 13, 2007 21:02author by IMEMC - News Report post

Once again, the Palestinian journalists fall victims of the security lapses across the Gaza Strip.

Today Sunday13, May 2007, fellow Suleiman Al-Ashi of the Palestine Daily Newspaper, 25 year-old, has been killed in cold blood while his colleague Mohamad Abdo has been critically wounded by coward bullets in a Gaza street.

We in the Journalists Syndicate condemn, in the strongest terms, this hideous crime and therefore, we call on all fighting parties to keep all journalists, writers, press people intact, away from their factional and political maneuvers.

We also demand the Palestinian presidency, the Palestinian government, the general prosecutor as well as all the security bodies to immediately bring to justice those involved in the said crime.

We call on all journalists to stay united against the security lapses that target all. The Journalist Syndicate pays its deep condolences for the family of fellow ‘martyr’ Suleiman Al-Ashy and hope speed recovery to wounded Mohammad Abdo.

Together for the protection of journalists and freedom of press Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, Gaza
