The agency stated that soldiers stopped a vehicle carrying Asma’ Abdullah Yousef, 25, and her infant, for several hours as she was heading back home from a Jenin hospital to her town. Resident Tawfiq Qabha, member of Barta’a village council, said that Asma’ and her husband were heading back home after she underwent a cesarean surgery, but were held at the Israeli checkpoint for several hours until the mother fainted. Qabha stated that after the vehicle reached a Wall gate blocking the village, soldiers stopped the car for several hours and forced the husband of Asma’ out of the car in order to interrogate him, and when he told them that his wife is returning home from a cesarean surgery, they forced her out of the vehicle while she was carrying her new born son. Later on, soldiers ordered the woman to accompany them to the “security-checkup” room, and as she was walking, she began to bleed and fell unconscious. Later on, one of the soldiers called an Israeli ambulance and transferred the woman to an Israeli hospital. The family Yousef held the Israeli soldiers responsible for the life of Asma’ and her new born, and called on the international community to intervene and save the Palestinian people from the illegal Israeli practices and violations. |
