Israeli army bulldozers destroyed a large amount of private Palestinian owned land in the southern West Bank city of Hebron on Monday in order to make way for a military post.

The lands are owned by Yakub Al Qawasmi and are located in the western part of Hebron city.

Sources in Hebron reported that the army issued military orders for the confiscation of the land on the first of February 2007. It stated that the land will be used to build an army post to provide protection for the settler-only known as road number 35, which is located near the land.

Road number 35 was originally built on land stolen from Palestinians in Hebron city to connect the illegal settlement in and around the city with Jerusalem
