Islam Shahwan, spokesperson of the Hamas-led Executive Force, reported on Thursday at night that one member of the force was killed and five civilians were injured when an explosive charge, placed on the side of the road, detonated as the force was driving near it in Jabalia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas held Fateh responsible for the attack, and said that this is part of a series of attacks carried by Fateh gunmen who “are planning a coup against the Hamas-led government”.

Hamas also charged that Fateh gunmen aim at escalating the situation as national unity talks are ongoing.

The Al Aqsa Brigades, the armed wing of Fateh movement blamed Hamas for the explosion, and said that “Hamas fighters are the ones who usually place explosive charges on roadsides”.

Abu Mohammad, spokesperson of the Al Aqsa Brigades, denied any relation with the incident and held Hamas gunmen responsible for it.
