Palestinian factions in exile rejected the call of the Palestinian
President, Mahmoud Abbas, for early legislative and presidential
elections, and called for withdrawing arms from the streets.

In a press release in Damascus, the factions totally rejected Abbas' call, and called for forming a national unity government based on the national unity document.

Farouq Qaddoumi, head of the Political Department of Fateh movement, Khaled Mashal, Hams Politburo Chief, Ramadan Shallah, secretary general of the Islamic Jihad, Ahmad Jibril, secretary general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command, Ahmad Taher, one of the leaders of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and several other political leaders in exile participated in the conference.

Khaled Mashal said that any move that is not based on the national unity document is totally rejected.

Also, the factions called for forming an investigations unit to uncover the sides responsible for the recent crimes and lawless attack in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and called for withdrawing arms from the streets.
